House rules of the Kleist-Museum

Welcome to the Kleist-Museum! We are very pleased about your visit. To ensure that all guests can enjoy a pleasant and safe stay, we ask you to observe the following rules. By entering our buildings, you recognise the provisions of the house rules. The entrance fees can be found here.

1. Respectful Behaviour

Please behave respectfully towards other guests, staff and the exhibits. The museum is a place of encounter, education, research, inspiration and relaxation. We are open to all who share our democratic values. Anti-Semitism, discrimination and racism are not tolerated.

2. Bags & Wardrobe

Large bags (larger than DIN A4, approx. 20 x 30 x 10 cm), rucksacks, umbrellas, jackets and sharp-edged objects may not be taken into the exhibition rooms. Please use the lockers in the entrance area. We accept no liability for their use. Lost property must be handed in at reception.

3. Photography & Filming

Photography and filming without lighting/flash for private purposes is permitted in most areas – please pay attention to our instructions. You are responsible for complying with the rules of copyright and personal rights. Commercial or editorial recordings must be registered in advance and authorised by us.

We take photos and films at public events. If you do not agree to this, please speak to the staff before the event begins.

4. Food & Drink

Food and drink may not be taken into the exhibition rooms. Smoking is not permitted in the museum building. Our museum garden and the rooms on the ground floor invite you to linger. We offer hot and cold drinks, and sometimes snacks during events.

5. Telephones

Please switch your mobile phone to silent mode and only make calls outside the exhibitions.

6. Minors

Children and young people up to the age of 18 enjoy free admission and are very welcome. We ask adults to accompany small children (under 10 years).

7. Animals

Unfortunately, animals are not allowed in the museum – with the exception of registered assistance dogs.

8. Accessibility

The museum is barrier-free. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact our team. We have lightweight chairs and a wheelchair for hire.

9. Security & Video Surveillance

Please behave in the exhibition rooms in such a way that other guests do not feel disturbed. Touching exhibition objects is not permitted, with the exception of objects that are intended for this purpose (e. g. media stations, tactile objects). As a guest, you are liable for any damage caused by your behaviour. The instructions of museum staff must be followed. They are authorised to check passes and ban visitors from the premises. In an emergency, please follow the signposted escape routes. The foyer, the event and exhibition rooms are under video surveillance. The recordings will be deleted after 48 hours.

10. Sustainability & Feedback

Our work is based on diversity and sustainability. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve, please let us know. We are at your disposal in person and by e-mail. You can also leave comments in our guestbook.

Should individual provisions of these house rules be invalid or unenforceable, this shall not affect the validity of the remainder of the house rules. The house rules come into force with immediate effect.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

We wish you an inspiring stay at the Kleist-Museum!
